exclude_from_search not working for nested queries

The exclude_from_search does not seem to be affecting nested properties. E.g. when choosing a band gap range, the minimum/maximum values of the slider change because the min/max aggregation is not excluding the filter. For non-nested properties, it seems to work just fine (e.g. the min/max slider for number of elements works just fine. Is this a bug or is there a fundamental reason why the exclusion would not work for nested properties?
